Lynn Gertenbach’s insatiable thirst for life is evident in her remarkable oil paintings depicting subject matters ranging from meadows to figures. According to Patricia Saleh in an article for International Fine Art Collector, “ To find the source of Lynn’s artistic charisma, one must enter the realm of imagination, as first and foremost she is an adventuress, inside and out.” Lynn has traveled around the world five times to paint and exhibit. She recently returned from a trip to Mongolia and Northern China to paint with internationally acclaimed artist, Jove Wang, where she traversed rugged terrain and slept in primitive tents in her quest to capture, on canvas, the natural beauty of the region. In 1980 The Instituto Cultural Norte Americano sponsored a traveling exhibition of Lynn’s paintings to three cities in Peru. Additionally, Lynn is preparing for her twelfth trip to Japan where her works will be shown at her biannual show in Osaka, Naro and Kyoto. In the spring of 2002, Lynn will be leading a workshop in Provence, France.

Born in Wisconsin and partially educated in Denver, Colorado, Lynn was able to attain scholarships enabling her to graduate from the Colorado Institute of Art. She continued her studies at Layton Art Institute in Milwaukee; The Art Center in Los Angeles, California, UCLA; and with noted painters Sergei Bongart; Phillip Gilkerson, Bernard Dustan and Arul Raj (in India).

Lynn’s public and private commissions include: Maestro Rubin Math; the Maharaja of Navanagar; Maestro Ravi Shankar; Tippi Hedren; Maestro Zubin (conductor for the New York philharmonic); Huntley House Hotel in Santa Monica, California; Mrs. Vince Scully; Northrop Aircraft Murals; Hugh Brady, TRW; and Southern California Gas Company Murals.

Among her numerous awards and achievements, Lynn received the Life Achievement Award (Hall of Fame Inductee) from the Colorado Institute of Art and her work has been in group exhibitions in the Laguna Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum, the Pacific Asia Museum and the Isetan Museum in Tokyo.
