Lindsay Goodwin

A passionate devotee of capturing spontaneous romanticism, Lindsay Goodwin is a treasured discovery among the next generation of fine artists. In the past year, Lindsay has spent several months exploring the aromas and style of Paris; digging deep into her visual imagination to fuse historical interior visions with modern-day remnants. Her canvas is where the two worlds meet, infused with Lindsay’s unique artistic interpretation and fluid additions. Lindsay creates gradations of tonal balance on her canvases; equilibriums evident when the viewer recognizes the artful juxtapositions of warms and cools. Her fascination for capturing the historical moment of interiors from Paris to Boston reflects our own human desire for romanticism in our lives: for bringing the elegance of historical splendor into our homes.

Born and raised in Topanga, California, a small town outside of Los Angeles, Lindsay had her initial taste of fine art training at O’Neills Fine Arts in Malibu. Following instruction under Katie O’Neill, Lindsay enrolled at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. on her road to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Lindsay gained invaluable artistic knowledge as a student of Craig Nelson. Nelson, a featured artist at Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art Gallery, is a strong advocate of pushing fellow artists to their full observational capacity. Lindsay has incorporated Nelson’s utilization of rapid oil studies into her own methodology. She believes that by setting a time limit to her canvas, she sharpens nearly every aspect of her work, including perspective, tonality, and most importantly atmosphere.

During her final semester at the Academy of Art University, Lindsay was chosen as one of the top fifteen emerging artists among her entire graduating class. This honor led to an immense public circulation of her work in the San Francisco arts community. Through this recognition, her first works began to be sold through respected west coast art dealers. Since her student days, Lindsay’s oil paintings have been featured in numerous national publications, including American Art Collector magazine, Plein Air magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Southwest Art magazine. one of her most sought after recognitions is her recent inclusion in Southwest Art magazine’s annual “Top 21 Artists under 31” spread in their September 2005 issue.
