Still Life of Flowers
by Eugene-Henri Cauchois

Eugene-Henri Cauchois was born on St. Valentine’s Day, in 1850, in the beautiful cathedral city of Rouen in Northwest France. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1874, where he was elected a member from 1890 onwards; in addition Cauchois won prestigious medals in 1898, 1900, and 1904. His most well known works were bright and vibrant Still Life paintings, with the highly skilled use of impasto brushwork. Today his work is found in the collections of museums in Rouen, Perpignan, and Louviers. This signed oil on canvas is a fine example of his work

Still Life Of Flowers
by H. M. Livens
Horace Mann Livens was born in London in 1862 and studied initially at the Croydon School of Art. After great encouragement from his teachers he travelled to Antwerp to further refine his artistic skills. In Antwerp he met many fine artists including Van Gogh who he became friendly with, it was under Van Gogh's advice that Livens went to Paris to continue his studies. A regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy, Livens was admired for his ability to depict still life with great care and accuracy. This oil painting is signed and dated "H. Livens, 1880".

Still Life with Grapes
by Hortense Conte
An unusual and beautiful piece of art, by the French painter, Hortense Conte. Conte was born in Paris, and studied at Maisiat. Her works are known to have been exhibited at the Salon between 1870 and 1881.

This is an oil on canvas, mounted in a rich gilt frame, which reflects the nature of the painting, with relief moulded fruiting vines around the borders. The grapes on the canvas, are shown to be hung from an nail driven into a old oak beam. The artist has painted three varieties of grapes, and foliage, against a stone wall, and signed and dated the work
H. Conte 1848 in the left hand corner.

An upright oil on canvas, presented in a gilt relief moulded and pierced frame. A Still Life study of various flowers, foliage and fruits. In the background a classical urn, standing on a shelf with various blossoms and grapes trailing above a lower shelf, which is also dressed with blossoms, fruit and a bird's nest, containing eggs.
