JEANNE LINDSAY

Jeanne Lindsay received her B.A. Degree from Empire State College of New York University in 1987, though her pursuit of an art career began over thirty years ago. She has been on the teaching staff of the Creative Workshop of the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester since 1984, and since 1987 has been an adjunct faculty member of Rochester Institute of Technology, College of Continuing Education. Though proficient in other painting media, Lindsay's forte is watercolor. She is primarily a botanical painter, inspired by both the reality and the abstraction of nature. Flowers, beautiful and sensuous, surrounded by seas of vivid color, are her trademark. Lindsay's work has been exhibited in numerous regional and national exhibitions including National Arts Club, Watercolor USA, Kentucky Watercolor Society, Chautauqua National Exhibition, Pittsburgh Watercolor Society and others. She has had numerous one and two-person shows, and her awards number nearly one hundred, including several "best of shows," the Grumbacher Gold, the Grumbacher Bronze, and over fifty Juror's Awards. She is a member of the Rochester Art Club, and has served as it's President, Vice President, and has served on the Board of Director's for nine years. Lindsay's work is part of the collection of the Memorial Art Gallery of Rochester, Kodak Company, Xerox Corporation, Chase-Lincoln First Bank, Central Trust Bank, First Federal Savings and Loan Association, Rochester Savings Bank, Farmer's Bank of Kentucky, as well as many other corporate and private collections throughout the United States.
