William Haskell's early influences include James Audubon, Andrew Wyeth, Salvador Dali, and Georgia O'Keefe. The technical ability in these artists' paintings, whether traditional or contemporary, has influenced Haskell's own work. William Haskell was introduced to the medium of watercolor at the early age of eleven. When he was sixteen, he began an apprenticeship with wildlife artist Terrill Knack. It was during this time period that William developed his well-known representational style which is enriched by his close attention to detail and colorful glazing techniques.
