Oil on canvas , 39 3/8 x 39 3/8 inches
Signed and dated lower right

This painting is an expression! of intense and serene pleasure.  Matter is employed in superimposed strokes: iridescent, illuminating, energetic, and without fear of contrast. The artist shuns a realistic view of the world instead employing a perspective that capsizes and plunges. This imaginative composition is characteristic of Do Fournier’s style. Far from the passing turbulence of fashion, Do Fournier walks a personal and original path; her paintings are snapshots of fragile moments of happiness to which we do not stay insensitive.

Born in Guerande, France and at first an illustrator in the advertising domain, Do Fournier decided to devote herself full time to her painting in 1984. Her approach in an uneasy society is not to describe its pain, but the potential it still harbors for joy; its fragile moments of charm and peacefulness stolen from a routine existence. To do this she expresses reality in the most intimate, sensual, peaceful, and carnal forms. Not as imitation but as a vision filtered through her observations and cast in the exuberance of her blazing colors. She is trying to capture fleeting emotion, to immobilize it and express it as simply as possible.

Exhibited: Festival de l’Art en Tolosie; Biennale “Classic V,” Belgium; S.I.A.C. Art Strasbourg; LINEART, Belgium; Salon “Itineraires” Leval!lois-Perret; Salon d’Automne a Paris; Galerie M.C. Goinard, Paris ; Biennale des 109 a Paris ; Salon de la Ville de Viroflay, France ; and more.

Poteries d' Espagne is the expression! of intense and serene pleasure.  The artist introduces us to her deconstructed universe, made up of an exuberant decor.  Rays of oblique light illuminate the room, and matter is employed in superimposed strokes, iridescent, illuminating, energetic, and without fear of contrast.  Perspective capsizes and plunges, creating a unique vantage point.  Far from the passing turbulence of fashion, Do Fournier walks a personal and original path, immobilizing in her paintings as snapshots of fragile happiness to which we do not stay insensitive.

These imaginative compositions are characteristic of Do Fournier’s style.  Above all a painter of atmospheres, the art of Do Fournier occasionally takes a baroque air laden with mixtures of color, graphical convolutions, objects negligently arranged, bodies in a state of abandonment that take us to the heart of a universe halfway between dreams and the familiar.

She is trying to capture fleeting emotion, to immobilize it and express it as simply as possible. Here as Bonnard puts it, “emotion springs up in is time.” The shock is instantaneous, often unexpected.” Above all a painter of atmospheres, the art of Do Fournier occasionally takes a baroque air laden with mixtures of color, graphical convolutions, objects negligently arranged, bodies in a state of abandonment that take us to the heart of a universe halfway between dreams and the familiar. In filigree we find traces of the Nabis in the stylization of form and movement, surfaces of contrasting colors and kitschy surroundings. We are not looking here at some melancholy representation but one that is refreshing and greedy for life. Forget the rational and realistic view of the world! Perspective capsizes and plunges! These imaginative compositions are characteristic of Do Fournier’s style. The artist introduces us to her deconstructed universe, made up of exuberant decors in which
