Arnold Desmarais, born 1952 in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Educated by his artistic family, and subsequently through courses at the Rhode Island School of Design, he sold his early paintings to pay his way through a Bachelor of Science degree in Business at Bryant College.
All the while continuing to produce highly-skilled oil paintings on the side, Desmarais combined his love of art with his newly acquired business skills and began a successful career in accessories, designing jewelry for several world renowned fashion houses including Anne Klein, Liz Claiborne, Bill Blass and Givenchy. He eventually sold his interests in his manufacturing facility in order to paint full time.
Inspired by a lifetime of living by the sea, Arnold Desmarais creates idyllic oil paintings reflecting the simple grandeur of his native New
England. His coastal scenes are serene narratives conveying the subtle, yet powerful visual relationship between land and water.
He currently teaches at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. He has exhibited widely, and is represented in commercial galleries from Maine to Florida.
