Vadim Bobrov was born in the small village of Osiniki in the
Vladimir region east of Moscow. He graduated from the Vladimir Art College in
1951 where many of the very talented group of artists were trained who are now
included in the Vladimir School of Landscape Painting.
With his first exhibition in 1955, he became a central figure in the important Vladimir School trend of the early 1960's. In 1960 the Vladimir artists were first appreciably noticed at the Soviet Russia Exhibition in Moscow. There, for the first time, a full and detailed representation of their art and its specific features brought recognition to the group as a whole. Their every stroke of the brush was so inspired giving a “riot of vision and a flood of emotions” as in the poet, Yesenin's words. Bobrov's use of a strong decorative palette together with a particular sensitivity to light gave his paintings depth and subtle brilliance.
In 1979, Bobrov was decorated an “Honored Artist of the USSR” during his celebrated one-man exhibit in Moscow. His unique works are rare and much sought after by collectors of the Vladimir School artists in Russia as well as Europe and of late, the United States. Bobrov's paintings are displayed in the State Russian Museum, The Tretyakov Gallery and other museums and corporate collections throughout Russia.
